From 1969 to 1976, Elvis’s true Vegas home was the Imperial Sky Villa (Suite 3000) at the International Hotel (now the Westgate Las Vegas).
This 13,000-square-foot palace on the 30th floor was where the “Memphis Mafia” lived, worked, and partied. The story goes that Elvis was so secluded here that he rarely saw the light of day, often shooting out television sets with a silver-plated .45 when he didn’t like what was on or, in one famous instance, accidentally shooting a hole through a bathroom wall while aiming at a target on a cardboard cutout.
Today, you can still book that same suite—though it has been heavily renovated since the 70s—for roughly $20,000 a night.
The “Fake” Elvis House: You might see a mid-century home at 2520 Castlesands Way often listed as “The Elvis House.” Local legend says he used it as a getaway, but his inner circle has long maintained he never actually lived there. It was likely a “hideaway” owned by the hotel for various headliners.
The New Celebrity Wave (2024–2026)
While Elvis stayed in a hotel suite to be near the stage, today’s stars are buying massive custom estates in the foothills for privacy. Las Vegas has seen a massive surge in celebrity migration recently:
- Mark Wahlberg: The biggest name in recent Vegas real estate. After selling his Beverly Hills estate, he moved his family to The Summit Club in Summerlin. He originally bought a 2.5-acre lot for $15.6 million to build a custom mansion and also purchased a “temporary” $14.5 million bungalow nearby.
- Gene Simmons: The KISS frontman famously bought a modern masterpiece in Ascaya (Henderson) for $8.2 million, though he recently sold it for around $11 million after deciding he didn’t spend enough time in the desert.
- Celine Dion: A longtime resident of Lake Las Vegas, she recently made headlines by selling her unfinished estate in The Summit Club for a record-breaking $30 million—the highest price ever paid for a home in that community.
- Floyd Mayweather Jr.: “Money” Mayweather owns a massive $10 million custom estate in Spanish Hills, which features two guest houses, a massive gym, and a garage built for a fleet of supercars.
- Jo Koy: The comedian recently listed his sculptural Las Vegas mansion (famous for its “tree trunk” staircase) for sale, signaling a shift in his local portfolio.
Where they are buying:
- The Summit Club (Summerlin): Currently the “it” spot for A-list privacy (Wahlberg, Dion).
- Ascaya (Henderson): Preferred by those who want “Desert Modern” architecture (Gene Simmons).
- The Ridges (Summerlin): Popular with athletes, including many Vegas Golden Knights players like Alex Pietrangelo.
